| 22 TAL Club members braved the Darkness and set out to see Vobster Quay By Night
High Spirits weren't dampened by the on set of rain during the Bus ride.
TAL arrived at Vobster at 8:15pm as predicted. those who travelled up separately where all ready there and even the wetsuit boys where already paddling in the shallow end (still raining) waiting for the off.
Sign in was quick and easy.
10 souls had committed to Night diver training dives for the evening with Trevor, Karen and Mark.
The rest of us Buddied up and set a quick dive plan
Most settled to enter at the far end an swim round back to the Quay buildings.
My Team of 2 Buddy pairs where first in and quickly down to the Lake bed.
Quick lights, kit and Oh yep its dark down here Check then off. First up a couple of cars and the tail section of the aircraft. Onwards missing the crushing works completely ( check the Map next time. )
We dropped of the ledge down to 18m hit the thermo cline at 12m James was regretting his summer holey gloves.
Still looking for the crushing works carried on along the drop off and ran into the Wheel house looming out of the dark. Defiantly not where i thought i was. So back round and up to the warmth of 10m. finally found the Works Yep just by the Tail section .
As planned I broke of with Robbie to surface after 40mins and the James & Darren carried on for another 20mins as they where only going to do one dive.
It wasn’t long after we got out that the First night dive trainees surfaced from their first dives
a Quick Cheese Burger coffee and an air fill and every one was ready to go again.
This time we opted to descend on the motor launch an dive round this and the wheel house. The cold wasn’t as bad this time as we where expecting it and the Cheese Burger had helped.
After 20mins we broke of and headed back to the Quay side ( used the compass this time much easier )
Again the warm water at 10m was a nice relief
More hot coffee and food before packing up to get on the bus
We got away just after midnight and back to TAL in the early Hours
and yes all 22 returned
plus congratulations to the 10 on completing part of their PADI Night Diver Speciality
