Boats are a great way to get to dive sites away from shore access. Learn the basics about how boat diving works, ways on and off the boat and safety whilst aboard and in the water. Diver Propulsion Vehicles
DPVs offer a amazing way to see a lot of the underwater world in a shorter amount of time. They scoot you through the water without effort. Whether making a shore dive or diving from a boat, a DPV is a great way to see more and have a blast doing it.
After your first few scuba dives, you soon want to explore a bit deeper. Thereâs something exciting and mysterious about the depth that attracts divers. Explore deeper with our PADI Instructors and discover the practical aspects of deep diving and what the physiological effects of deeper scuba diving are.
Drift Diver introduces you to the coolest magic carpet ride youâll ever experience. It shows you how to enjoy currents by âgoing with the flow,â staying with your dive partner, communicating with the dive boat and knowing where you are the whole time. We can get you flying over the Christchurch ledges or around the Peveril Ledges which is really cool for aqautic life. You can stay down for longer and see loads more! - Its like diving with a unlimited DPV!
Dry suits let you extend your dive season and if you stay warm and toasty on a dive! Unlike a wetsuit, a dry suit seals you off from the outside water and that keeps you warm! Even in surprisingly cold water. The adventure dive lets you experience this and shows you some of the differences.
Introduce yourself to the whole new cast of critters that comes out after the sun goes down. See your favorite dive sites from a whole new perspective at night. Very popular with new and experienced divers as you often see life which isn't out during the day! These dives are run from our Dive Boat - DSV Vixen and from shore. We visit many popular places such as Swanage Bay, Chesil Beach, Steamer Point and the Christchurch ledges. Come along and see what life you can see!
Peak Performance Buoyancy
Scuba divers like to be neutrally buoyant so they neither sink nor float. Divers whoâve mastered the highest performance levels in buoyancy stand apart. Youâve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover, almost as if by thought. A critical aspect when exploring the wrecks and reefs around the Dorset coast.
Search and Recovery
Find lost items and lift them to the surface. Itâs fun to use the lift bag! Not only are these skills fun, but very practical and ultimately useful because eventually, youâll lose something in the water! Youâll learn how to search for and methods to recover it.
Underwater navigation can be challenge, but one TAL Scuba will help you master! You'll learn the tools of the trade, including navigation via natural clues and by compass, underwater distance measuring and mapping a route to find your way back.
Whether sunk on purpose as an artificial reef or the result of mishap, wrecks open fascinating windows to the past. Most divers find wrecked ships, airplanes and even cars nearly irresistible because theyâre intriguing to explore, exciting areas of discovery, and usually filled with aquatic life. We have loads of wrecks around the Dorset coast, and this is a great introduction on learning safe exploration of the outside of a wreck and what dangers to look out for.
