PADI Dry Suit Diver Speciality Course
Stay Warmer Stay Longer - Dive Dry suit
PADI Dry Suit Diver Speciality Course
You have qualified as a diver and want to go diving, but you don't like being cold? - lets face it the UK isn't the known for 30ºC water at 20m, but it does have some top diving, so you can either dive during the summer months with the crowds or you can dive all year round with a dry suit? It keeps you warm and toasty all year round and... it keeps you dry! - No more standing after a dive shivering as the wind howls through your wet suit, it seals you off at the neck and wrists and keeps you warm!
Diving dry suits or drysuits requires a little more skill than diving in a wetsuit and you have more things to get used to and there is alot to learn. "I think it is dangerous to dive in a drysuit without extra training - It is far to easy to end up shooting to the surface!! If you do not know what you are doing" - Trevor Course Director
Drysuits are not cheap. You will learn about different type of drysuits and the undersuit options you have depending on where and when you are diving. It depends on how cold the water is. Get it wrong and you may not enjoy your dive. It is also important you know how a drysuit should fit, always get expert help when choosing a drysuit, it has to fit properly, much more so than a wetsuit.
You will learn about
- Putting on and taking off your drysuit with minimal assistance and not damaging your seals.
- Mastering buoyancy control using your dry suit. Do you use your BCD or Drysuit? Well it depends...
- Dive safety procedures when using a dry suit.
- Emergency procedures and how to right yourself.
During the course you will learn about the different styles of dry suit, how to choose and look after one. What undersuits can do for you and which one is best, how to put on and take off your dry suit, plus a whole new set of skills for diving it, and what to do in emergencies. When you have the right cold water scuba diving kit, you can take advantage of the generally better visibility offered by winter months especially at inland dive sites such as quarries like Vobster Quay, Chepstow and Stoney Cove. As a dry suit diver, you'll be equipped to scuba dive some of the world’s most incredible dive sites in the cooler regions that are enjoyed in a dry suit even in their warmer months! Once you go dry suit... there will be no going back!
This course has 1 pool dive and 2 open water dives from a boat or shore under close supervision of your instructor.
Train in the UK - it's a little more demanding but..
You are qualified to dive in conditions similar or better than that in which you were trained!
