PADI SMB Surface Marker Buoy Speciality
Can you use your SMB properly?
PADI SMB Speciality Course
When you go Scuba diving from a boat it's important the boat knows where you are? The skipper does this by looking for your SMB, your Surface Marker Bouy.
"If we can't see you we can not pick you up!!! You'd be surprised how many times I have had to go looking for divers who have deloyed their SMB badly, so It's under water or lying down and here in the UK I just can't see where they are". When you consider divers can drift apart and may end up a long way from the others some times over 500m... It is a BIG OCEAN and a long swim." - Trevor Leyland - PADI Cpourse Director
SMBs are also use to signal a problem under water.
Can you deploy your SMB properly so it can be seen both on the surface and while under water?
We often run FREE SMB clinics for our club members, non members are welcome at a cost. But there is no subsituit for proper training in the Sea or Open Water.
We normally use a drift SMB when drift diving and a DSMB (Delayed SMB) when wreck diving, do you know why?
"You would be surprised how many people who have been scuba diving for years that can not safetly send up an SMB!!!
This course is very worth while" - Trevor Leyland - PADI Cpourse Director
