I've had a few questions this weekend about the Sig Sauer MCX Virtus and some curious markings seen on the action in some recent close-ups, that showed the Max Fill Pressure as 1100 PSI (77bar), which seems low for an Air Rifle.
On further research I was able to dig up a discussion from a event held before this years Shot Show, where Sig Air showed off the Virtus to the US press and mentioned the fill pressure.
"The SIG MCX Virtus PCP air rifle fills to 3,000 PSI. That pressure is then throttled-down to 1,100 PSI by the regulator for use in the action. As you would expect, the 13 Cubic Inch HPA tank provides somewhere north of 150 consistent shots, before the regulator cuts-in."
This suggests that those curious markings shown above will either be updated for release, or could simply be used to show the pressure used by the action, with seperate markings on the air bottle in the stock of the rifle. This also reads to me that the rifle is regulated, although whether this is a per-shot regulator or (more likely) a cut-in regulator at the 1100 psi mark still remains unclear.
We're expecting these to still arrive for May~June and limited stock is still available for pre-order.
