What are Rebreathers?

Rebreathers are a type of diving unit that recycles Oxygen inside a closed breathing circuit. This allows divers to make much more efficient use of their breathing gas, often giving longer dive times and no-decompression limits. Rebreathers are also an ideal unit choice for marine life lovers, as they produce fewer bubbles from breathing, which are often the culprit of marine life moving away from the diver. Each Rebreather unit is different, so you must qualify to dive on the Rebreather model you intend to use and as always, PADI training is recognised worldwide. Rebreather Advantages

Silence

Watching marine life is something most divers love, but is something open circuit divers rarely get to seeup close because of the breathing noise which commonly disturbs the fish. A Rebreather however, emits minimal noise in comparison and lets you get much closer to the action.

Dive Time

Using only two, 3-litre cylinders, you can spend as much as four hours underwater in one dive. Nitrogen and depth times do effect this, but a carefully planned dive could easily fill 4 hours and would still leave some gas left for peace of mind, opening up possibilities never thought of before.

Comfort

Rebreathing gas is recycled in a closed circuit, meaning that it's a warm and moist gas that you are breathing. The advantage here is twofold, as your body is not having to moisten, or warm the gas inside your lungs. This means there is less of a sensation of cold or dehydration after diving and less energy in the body is used warming up the inhaled breathing gas.

Buoyancy

Once a Rebreather is setup for the intended depth, buoyancy will not affected by breathing, letting you float in position with no effort. A superb advantage for underwater photography, where you can hover motionless ready to take a video or picture of your dive.
